Our Lord and Savior’s words above describe the very position in which we
biblical Christians find ourselves today. We find ourselves in an area that is
lonely, ridiculed, and shunned, because we don’t fit. We don’t fit into the
secular society because it believes that what it calls the "archaic, sexist, out-of-date"
beliefs of a simple book can’t possibly explain our complex problems of today.
Our supposed "brothers and sisters in Christ" have become so enthralled with
humanistic Christianity and the all righteous attitudes of today that they
ridicule us for "showing our weaknesses, imperfections, and blemishes by asking
for forgiveness." We don’t fit into the mega churches whose followers have
designer clothes, cars and careers. And these are people who may be in our own
families, marriages, and many other close relationships.
To be honest, it’s much like the clicks of high school where the popular kids
boasted good looks, rich parents, and the spoils of worldly desires. Let me make
it perfectly clear:
"There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of
God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by
Christ Jesus (Romans 3:23-24).
We can’t allow ourselves to be browbeaten into keeping up with the Joneses by
indulging in those worldly desires that have permeated our churches.
On the other side of the coin, however, we must stand firm when secular
society asks us, "Who are you to tell me what is wrong? Why are you attacking
gays, lesbians, and women who want to choose what’s right for their bodies?" Or
"Who are you to stand there and tell me I am fallen in flesh, when society tells
me I matter and can empower myself, and that I can get myself into heaven by my
good works because my God would not delve out the kind of punishment that is in
the Old Testament of the Bible."
It’s our painful jobs as Biblical Christians to carry our cross and the
deliver the hard truths of the Bible. Hebrews 4:12 says,
"For the word of God is
living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to
dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and
attitudes of the heart."
It also judges us the deliverers of its truth because we are not greater than
our master or those to whom we witness. The Bible makes it clear that we are not
to add to nor subtract anything from the Word. My prayer is that none of my
articles on the Knight for Christ website do either. Yet I hope I can "Be
merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them; to
others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted
flesh" (Jude 1:22-23).
I must make something clear here: Just because God chose to impress it on my
soul as to what is truth and what is a lie, it is imperative that I don’t become
legalistic in my thinking, meaning I can’t allow myself to become so impressed
by the truth that I find myself looking down on people.
As Biblical Christians we must remember that we are only the puppets, and God
is our master—we could not realize any truth if the light wasn’t first turned on
by the Holy Spirit. As the Bible so eloquently states in 1 Corinthians 1:26-28:
"Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were
wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble
birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God
chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly
things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to
nullify the things that are, so no one may boast before him."
We are, however, to stand fast through the fire, not give ground, nor soften
our truth. We must stay the course and hold the line during the battles we fight
daily with our secular and humanistic counterparts. We cannot and will not
soften its thump, nor dull its edge. We must kneel before our King by being the
humble servant, but rise, take the sword of truth, and shove it the gullet of
heresy and deceit. Paul gave us this charge, "Preach the Word; be prepared in
season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and
careful instruction" (2 Timothy 4:2).
So, I stand firm in my rebuking of the lifestyle the homosexuals and lesbians
have chosen; I will not stand idly by and watch them degrade the God-given
sanctity of marriage by allowing same sex marriage. I will always challenge the
hypocrisy at the core of liberalism. They march to end the war, "because men and
woman are dying," yet the same individuals march to uphold their right to kill
babies. Their logic turns my stomach!
Some of our so-called brothers and sisters in Christ are also up to the same
hypocrisy. I was involved in the last soup kitchen a nearby church was giving.
When I inquired as to why they would no longer be holding it at this location,
their response was "because some of the people who eat here showed up at some of
the services."
I don’t know any church of any denomination that could twist scripture to fit
that ridiculous reasoning. Because these people did not fit the click of this
snobby church, they were not welcome. Shame on those people!
However, let us not be too concerned that we are without hope about the
certain demise of our county. Don’t let it get you down that the passing of each
generation brings new leaders who are more liberal and humanistic than the last.
As alluded to in a previous article, each individual battle may be ours to win
or lose, but the outcome of the war is not in doubt—the light of Jesus Christ
will prevail over the darkness of humanity and Satan.
