Fighting the Good Fight

by Shawn Smith

With the anniversary of the single worst terror attack on our soil upon us, I ask, “Where have the lions gone?”

Where are those people who stood arm in arm with our president as he sounded the battle cry? If this is what it is to be a true American, I don’t care if I am considered one. I am so tired of liberals who barely read the Bible yet stand at the pulpit quoting it. They stand there spouting book, chapter, and verse saying, “Thou shalt not kill.” In Greek, the text actually reads, “Thou shalt not murder,” meaning the innocent. Oh, and while I’ve mentioned the innocent, those same feminists and liberals who use that misguided text are sounding the battle cry of abortion rights.

Let me get this straight: the radical Muslim is more innocent than the baby in the womb? Oh, the hypocrisy is enough to make me want to throw up. As the Old Testament sage reminds us, there is “A time to keep silence, a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate, a time for war, and a time of peace” (Ecclesiastes 3:7-8). I believe it’s time to speak! We have to stop allowing all of these pagan institutions to exist unchallenged in our country. As a private investigator, I check into countless hotels and go into other businesses and am greeted by Islam, Buddha, Hinduism, and countless other pagan religions that slap our Lord and Savior in the face by saying “He was only a really good prophet.”

I am not allocating violence against these people, only asking them to leave. The Bible clearly states over and over again that we are not to have anything to do with these people. We should merely treat them with kindness as we deny their entrance into this “Christian country.” By what Jude says, the time to love our God is now; “To others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh” (Jude 1:23). Yes, my fellow Americans, it’s time to hate--time to hate the degradation, lies, and deceit at the very core of these false religions.

The time for peace is now, too: peace with your brother and sister in Christ. We have to pick up the Bible and lay down our secular humanism, greed, lust, and sin. For God’s sake, people, our children are dying, they are having sex at an earlier age, drinking, taking drugs, and being infected with new strains of venereal diseases at an epidemic rate. It’s time to tell the liberals, feminists, and pagans that our way of government is not working. Turning our back on God by embracing the lynchpins of the constitution with both hands has clearly shown its a failure, and it’s a sin.

As Christians we need to grab the truth and understand that it is God-given through the Bible. As pastor John MacArthur says in his new book, The Truth War, “The idea that the Christian message should be kept pliable and ambiguous seems especially attractive to young people who are in tune with culture and in love with the spirit of the age and can’t stand to have authoritative biblical truth applied with precision as a corrective to worldly lifestyles, unholy minds, and ungodly behavior. As statistics show (www.pewtrusts.org)young people today are much more likely to identify or lean Democratic rather than Republican. For example, among 18 to 24 year olds in Pew surveys over the past year and a half, fully 51 percent say they are Democrats or lean to the Democratic Party; just 37 percent are Republicans or lean to the GOP."

MacArthurgoes on to say, “And the poison of this perspective is being increasingly injected into the evangelical church body. But that is not authentic Christianity. Not knowing what you believe (especially on a matter as essential to Christianity as the gospel) is by definition a kind of unbelief. Refusing to acknowledge and defend the revealed truth of God is a particularly stubborn and pernicious kind of unbelief. Advocating ambiguity, exalting uncertainty, or otherwise deliberately clouding the truth is sinful way of nurturing unbelief.”

The liberals would have us believe that peace can be found here on earth, but Jesus Christ said, "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword” (Matthew 10:34). We cannot waste our energies on thoughts of the secular humanist view of earthly utopia. We have to stand up and do what the Bible says—fight the good fight!
